Pasir Gudang World Kite Festival 2019
Pasir Gudang World Kite Festival is an annual international kite event held in Pasir Gudang, Johor. It started back in 1995 with the objective of showcasing the beauty of traditional and modern kites, celebrating creativity and attracting foreign tourist to the state of Johor. It is now known as a prestigious event for the state and Malaysia as it is highlighted as one of the main events in both Johor Tourism and Tourism Malaysia calendar.
What’s in for 2019 KiteFest
This festival is expected to attract more than 150,000 visitors. There will be 42 international kite flying teams, 1000 kite flyers, and firework shows. Various kite competitions and Rokkaku challenge will be held among school children, corporate bodies, higher education institutions in Pasir Gudang as well as the local and foreign kite enthusiasts.
Visitors will be entertained with kite performances and cultural and artist performances. For those who are interested to learn more about kite and how to make a kite, kites workshop and exhibitions are held daily. Children can also join colouring contests and participate in Lolly Pop Drops. If you are wondering what is Lolly Pop drops, watch the video below and you can imagine how excited children will be.
Sultan of Johor will officiate the prestigious kite festival on the third night of the festival. On fourth night, visitors are welcomed to witness the colourful LED kite competition.

Pasir Gudang International Kite Festival 2019 event ground will be divided into 5 main venues meant for different activities. Here’s a short guide of activities in each venues during the 5-days festival. Note that some activities are held on certain days only.
